Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers will direct a new Broadway production of Philip Barry's The Philadelphia Story to play the Roundabout Theatre Company's American Airlines Theatre in Fall 2013. Casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.

The play, which premiered on Broadway in 1939, tells the story of Tracy Lord, a rich young woman who, days before her wedding, must deal with a meddling reporter and her nosy ex-husband. It was last revived on Broadway in 1980.

It was also the basis of the Oscar-nominated 1940 film of the same name, starring Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and James Stewart, as well as the film and Broadway musical High Society.

Timbers received Tony nominations for his co-direction of Peter and the Starcatcher, and for the book of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, which he also directed. He also helmed The Pee-wee Herman Show on Broadway, as well as the Roundabout Underground's production of The Language of Trees in 2008.
