13P is entering its “ImPlosion Season,” which will be the final one for this lauded playwriting collective that consists of 13 writers who banded together in 2003 as a response to the growing predominance of readings and development workshops as the primary theatrical experience of American playwrights.

The season will begin with the world premiere of Erin Courtney’s A Map of Virtue, directed by Ken Rus Schmoll, to play the East 4th Street Theater, February 5-25, 2012. In this middle-of-the-night horror, a shared obsession leaves a group of friends stranded in the woods.

In summer 2012, 13P will present its final show, a premiere by Sarah Ruhl, with additional details to be announced. Following this presentation, the collective will disband.

13P operates under a unique model: Each writer serves as artistic director for his or her own project, selects what will be produced, decides on the goals of the project, designs its process, and chooses the collaborators.

In addition to Courtney and Ruhl, the collective includes Sheila Callaghan, Madeleine George, Rob Handel, Ann Marie Healy, Julia Jarcho, Young Jean Lee, Winter Miller, Kate E. Ryan, Lucy Thurber, Anne Washburn, and Gary Winter.
