Tony-Winning Producer Pierre Cossette Dies at 85

Pierre Cossette, who won a Tony Award for producing The Will Rogers Follies, had died at age 85, according to The Montreal Gazette.

Cosette first gained fame in the record industry, eventually founding Dunhill Records, which had such artists as Johnny Rivers, the Mamas and Papas, Barry McGuire, Steppenwolf, and Three Dog Night.

In the 1970s, he began to produce the Grammy Awards for television, which he continued to do until his death. He also produced numerous other awards shows, as well as television specials for singer Celine Dion.

His other Broadway credits as a producer included Tommy Tune Tonite!, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and The Civil War.
