Terms of Endearment Reading, Starring Melissa Benoist, Raises More Than $100K

The exclusive one-night-only reading of Terms of Endearment, presented by Berlanti Productions and Jessica Queller at the Geffen Playhouse, raised more than $100,000. All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Stand Up To Cancer and Geffen Playhouse's New Play Development Program.

The reading took place October 1, on the Geffen Playhouse main stage with an all-star cast that included Melissa Benoist (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Kate Burton (Present Laughter), Calista Flockhart (Supergirl), Willie Garson (White Collar), Alfred Molina (Red), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick), Italia Ricci (Designated Survivor), Chris Wood (Supergirl), and Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians). Notable attendees at the event included Harrison Ford, Rebel Wilson, and Odette Annable.

James L. Brooks's original film — which he adapted from Larry McMurtry's novel — featured Shirley MacLaine, Debra Winger, Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, and John Lithgow. It won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
