Pasadena Playhouse Extends Mary Bridget Davies-Led A Night With Janis Joplin

The musical will play for a little bit longer in Los Angeles.

Pasadena Playhouse has extended its new engagement of the musical A Night With Janis Joplin through August 23. The production, directed by Randy Johnson, stars Mary Bridget Davies, who received a Tony Award nomination for her performance as Janis.

The show centers on Janis Joplin and her meteoric rise to fame. On the way to the top, it stops to admire and learn from the stars who influenced Joplin, including Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone, and Bessie Smith. The show treats audiences to some of their favorites including "Summertime," "Piece of My Heart," "Cry Baby," and "Me and Bobby McGee."

Kacee Clanton alternates with Davies in the role of Janis Joplin. The rest of the cast comprises Sharon Catherine Brown, Yvette Cason, Sylvia MacCalla, and Jenelle Lynn Randall.

The creative team includes Rob Bissinger (set design), Mike Baldassari (lighting design), Amy Clark (costume design), Ben Selke (sound design), Darrel Maloney (projections design), and Leah Loukas (hair and makeup).

Performances were originally scheduled to conclude on August 16.
