A host of theater luminaries were nominated this morning for 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Audra McDonald and Bryan Cranston, who picked up Tony Awards for their performances in Broadway's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill and All the Way, respectively, received nominations for their work in the television movie adaptations of those productions. In their respective categories, they go up against fellow theater vets John Turturro (The Night Of), Courtney B. Vance (The People vs. O.J. Simpson), Sarah Paulson (The People vs. O.J. Simpson) and Kerry Washington (Confirmation).

On the film side, Tony winners Denzel Washington and Viola Davis picked up nods for their work in Washington's film adaptation of August Wilson's Fences. They go head-to-head with Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge), Ryan Gosling (La La Land), Nicole Kidman (Lion), and Michelle Williams (Manchester by the Sea).

The SAG Awards will take place on January 29.
