London's Kinky Boots Wins Big at 2015 Evening Standard Awards

Nicole Kidman and James McAvoy also took home prizes at the annual ceremony.

Stephen Adly Guirgis' comedy The Motherf*cker With the Hat and Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein's musical Kinky Boots won big at London's Evening Standard Awards, held Sunday, November 22.

Hat, which was presented earlier this year at the National Theatre, won the Best Play Award, while Kinky Boots at the Adelphi Theatre received the Evening Standard Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical, voted for by the public.

In the acting categories, stage and screen heavyweights Nicole Kidman and James McAvoy took home top honors for their performances in Anna Ziegler's Photograph 51 and Peter Barnes' The Ruling Class, respectively. Imelda Staunton took home the Best Musical Performance statue for her work as Rose in Gypsy. Legendary actress Vanessa Redgrave won the Editor's Award, while iconic musical-theater composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim received the Lebedev Award.
