Victory Gardens Theater has announced that the first show of its 42nd season will be Hand to God by Robert Askins. Gary Griffin will direct the production, which is set to run from September 16-October 16, 2016, with the press performance on September 23.

In Hand to God, the children of Cypress, Texas, spend their after-school hours practicing Christian Puppet Ministry at the local church. When one devout young boy discovers that his hand puppet has a life of its own, all hell breaks loose.

Hand to God played on Broadway during the 2014-15 season and received five Tony nominations, including Best Play. That production was directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel, who received a Tony Award nomination for his work.
