The Lion King Releases New Footage as Broadway Production Turns 21

Broadway's The Lion King has released new video footage, in honor of the show's 21st anniversary. Check it out below:

Based on Disney's 1994 animated musical, The Lion King opened on Broadway on November 13, 1997, at the New Amsterdam Theatre, and earned six Tony Awards. Now the third-longest-running show in Broadway history, the production is currently playing at the Minskoff Theatre.

Directed by Julie Taymor, The Lion King features music by Elton John, lyrics by Tim Rice, a book by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi, and choreography by Garth Fagan. The current cast features Stephen Carlile as Scar, L. Steven Taylor as Mufasa, Tshidi Manye as Rafiki, Cameron Pow as Zazu, Ben Jeffrey as Pumbaa, Fred Berman as Timon, Bradley Gibson as Simba, Adrienne Walker as Nala, James Brown-Orleans as Banzai, Bonita J. Hamilton as Shenzi, Enrique Segura as Ed, Tryphena Wade as Sarabi, Chinua Baraka Payne and Jesus Del Orden as Young Simba, and Mikee Castillo and Suri Marrero as Young Nala.

The ensemble cast includes Lawrence Keith Alexander, Sandy Alvarez, Cameron Amandus, Brian C. Binion, India Bolds, Elishah Bowman, Lindiwe Dlamini, Zinhle Dube, Bongi Duma, Angelica Edwards, Jim Ferris, Rosie Lani Fiedelman, Christopher Freeman, Pia Hamilton, Jamal Lee Harris, Michael Alexander Henry, Michael Hollick, André Jackson, Alia Kache, Joel Karie, Pearl Khwezi, Sharron Lynn, Mduduzi Madela, Kimberly Marable, Jaysin McCollum, Ray Mercer, Kyle Lamar Mitchell, S'bu Ngema, Nhlanhla Ngobeni, Nteliseng Nkhela, Jacqueline Rene, Kellen Stancil, Nicole Smith, Bravita Threatt, and Natalie Turner.
