Quentin Tarantino's new film The Hateful Eight is headed for the stage — and Tarantino himself will write and direct the production.

"I've thought it out completely," Tarantino told TheWrap after this weekend's recent Golden Globe Awards ceremony. "I'm just waiting for this season to be over so I can write it." He also mentioned that the film's producer, Harvey Weinstein, suggested producing the work, which features only three settings, as a stage play first, though Tarantino was set on the mysterious spaghetti western being shot as a 70mm film.

The official synopsis for The Hateful Eight is as follows: "Six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth and his fugitive Daisy Domergue, race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as "The Hangman," will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren, a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix, a southern renegade who claims to be the town's new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie's Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie's, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces...As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all."

The film features a cast made up of Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Demian Bichir, and Channing Tatum.

No timeline for a stage version of The Hateful Eight has been officially confirmed.
