Sebastian Arcelus and Diane Phelan Join Broadway's Into the Woods for Final Weeks

The hit revival will end its run on January 8.

Starting January 3, Sebastian Arcelus will return to play the Baker in the Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods at the St. James Theatre, which ends its much-extended run on January 8.

Additionally, Diane Phelan will take over the role of Cinderella starting December 26, playing through the final performance and continuing with the production on tour across the country. Phelan is the current Broadway understudy of Cinderella.

The Broadway company for Into the Woods presently includes Joaquina Kalukango as The Witch, Stephanie J. Block as the Baker's Wife, Gavin Creel as the Wolf/Cinderella's Prince, Joshua Henry as Rapunzel's Prince, Katy Geraghty as Little Red Ridinghood, Jim Stanek as the Steward, Ann Harada as Jack's Mother, Cole Thompson as Jack, and Alysia Velez as Rapunzel. Ta'Nika Gibson, Annie Golden, Albert Guerzon, Brooke Ishibashi, Kennedy Kanagawa, David Patrick Kelly, Nancy Opel, Delphi Borich, Felicia Curry, Jason Forbach, Alex Joseph Grayson, Cameron Johnson, Paul Kreppel, Mary Kate Moore, Sam Simahk, and Lucia Spina round out the cast.

Into the Woods is directed by Lear deBessonet, with music supervision by Rob Berman, and choreographed by Lorin Latarro. The creative team for Into the Woods includes David Rockwell (Scenic Design), Andrea Hood (Costume Design), Tyler Micoleau (Lighting Design), Scott Lehrer & Alex Neumann (Co-Sound Designers), James Ortiz (Puppet Design), and Cookie Jordan (Hair, Wigs, and Makeup Design).

As previously reported, Into the Woods will tour the country with many of the stars of the Broadway run. The engagements begin February 2023 and are set for Washington, D.C. (Kennedy Center Opera House); Boston, Massachusetts (Emerson Colonial Theatre); Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Miller Theater); Charlotte, North Carolina (Blumenthal Performing Arts Center); Chicago, Illinois (James M. Nederlander Theatre); San Francisco, California (Curran Theater); and Los Angeles, California (Ahmanson Theatre). The production will tech and play preview performances in Buffalo, New York (Shea's Performing Arts Center). You can keep up with the tour here.
