Neon Trees Singer Tyler Glenn to Make Broadway Debut in Kinky Boots

”Wicked” veteran Carrie St. Louis will also join the Broadway cast as Lauren.

Kinky Boots producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig announced new casting for the Tony-winning musical, which just began its sixth year at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

Tyler Glenn, lead singer of the multiplatinum rock band Neon Trees, will assume the role of Charlie Price for a limited run, May 6-July 15. Glenn will take over for David Cook, who plays Charlie Price through May 5. Carrie St. Louis (Wicked, Cruel Intentions: The '90s Musical Experience) will take over the role of Lauren beginning May 4, replacing Pentatonix star Kirstin Maldonado, who will play her final performance on May 3. J. Harrison Ghee will also return to the role of Lola on May 1, taking over for Wayne Brady, who plays his final performance on April 26.

Winner of six 2013 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Kinky Boots features a Tony Award-winning score by Cyndi Lauper, a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein, and direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell. Kinky Boots tells the uplifting and heartwarming tale of Charlie Price, a young man reluctantly taking over his family's struggling shoe factory and looking for a fresh idea. Charlie meets and finds inspiration in Lola, and together they discover that it takes a good friend to make a great pair.

The current Broadway cast includes Wayne Brady (Lola), David Cook (Charlie Price), Kirstin Maldonado (Lauren), Daniel Stewart Sherman (Don), Caroline Bowman (Nicola), Marcus Neville (George), Adinah Alexander, Eugene Barry-Hill, Stephen Berger, Holly Davis, Jesus Del Orden, Stephane Duret, Mia Gentile, Blair Goldberg, Natalie Joy Johnson, Jake Katzman, Kevin Smith Kirkwood, Blaine Alden Krauss, Eric Leviton, Jake Odmark, John Jeffrey Martin, Julia McLellan, Michael Milkanin, Connor Mills, Christian Mullins, Fred Odgaard, Robert Pendilla, Jennifer Perry, Kyle Post, Charlie Sutton, Joey Taranto, and Stephen Tewksbury.
