Harvey Fierstein and the company of the upcoming Broadway transfer of Torch Song met the press on Thursday, September 20 in advance of performances beginning October 9 at the Hayes Theater. Opening night is set for November 1 for a run through February 24, 2019.

Moisés Kaufman directs a cast led by Michael Urie and Mercedes Ruehl. They are joined by the rest of the original Second Stage cast: Ward Horton, Roxanna Hope Radja, Michael Hsu Rosen, and Jack DiFalco.

A collection of three plays, Torch Song Trilogy opened on Broadway at the Little Theatre (now the Hayes), where it enjoyed a groundbreaking run, earning Tony Awards for Best Play and Best Actor in a Play (Fierstein) and running for 1,222 performances. Harvey Fierstein's Torch Song, according to a press release, "follows Arnold Beckoff's odyssey to find happiness in New York. All he wants is a husband, a child and a pair of bunny slippers that fit, but a visit from his overbearing mother reminds him that he needs one thing more: respect."
