Flashback Friday: Before Broadway, Keira Knightley Was Bending It Like Beckham

The movie star is now making her Broadway debut in the dark romance ”Thérèse Raquin”.

Keira Knightley celebrated her Broadway debut last evening at the opening night of Thérèse Raquin at Studio 54. London audiences have already seen the actress onstage with West End roles in The Misanthrope and The Children's Hour, but New York City theatergoers are just now getting a taste of Knightley's live dramatic chops. In America, we know her far better from her film work, which notably includes her breakout role in the 2002 romantic sports comedy Bend It Like Beckham. Before you go see her as Émile Zola's tortured title character, remember her when she was the feisty soccer-playing Juliette Paxton.
