Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical, a filmed version of the Broadway musical, will return to movie theaters nationwide for a two-day encore presentation on August 5 and 9. The show was first screened in cinemas this past February.

Captured live at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in September 2016, the production features Jeremy Jordan, who currently stars in the television series Supergirl, in a reprise of his Tony-nominated performance as Jack Kelly. The musical also stars original Broadway cast members Kara Lindsay as Katherine, Ben Fankhauser as Davey, and Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Crutchie, along with Newsies North American tour stars Steve Blanchard as Joseph Pulitzer, Aisha de Haas as Medda Larkin, and Ethan Steiner as Les.

Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies tells the story of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenage "newsies," who dreams of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right.

The musical features a Tony-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman, a book by four-time Tony-winner Harvey Fierstein, direction by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun, and Tony-winning choreography by Christopher Gattelli.
