Bryce Ryness (Hair) will take on the role of Miss Trunchbull in the Broadway production of Matilda The Musical beginning Tuesday, June 7, at the Shubert Theatre. Christopher Sieber will play his final performance in the role on Sunday, June 5.

Ryness joins the Broadway production after originating the role of the terrifying headmistress on the show's national tour. His other Broadway credits include First Date, Leap of Faith, and Legally Blonde.

Featuring a Tony-winning book by Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, the show is inspired by Roald Dahl's novel of the same name and tells the story of a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence, and psychokinetic powers. The production has sets and costumes by Rob Howell, with choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, and sound by Simon Baker.

Directed by Matthew Warchus, the musical began performances March 4, 2013, and opened April 11 of that year. It will end its run at the Shubert Theatre on January 1, 2017, after 37 previews and 1,555 performances.
