Dear Evan Hansen producer Stacy Mindich has announced that Andrew Barth Feldman — the 16-year-old winner of the Best Actor Award at the 2018 National High School Musical Theatre Awards, or Jimmy Awards — will make his Broadway debut as Evan Hansen on January 30, 2019. Currently a high school junior at Lawrence Woodmere Academy in Woodmere, New York, Feldman will take over the role from Taylor Trensch, who plays his final performance on January 27, 2019. Original Broadway cast member Michael Lee Brown will continue as the Evan alternate.

With a Tony-winning score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and a Tony-winning book by Steven Levenson, Dear Evan Hansen is described as follows: "A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he's always wanted: a chance to finally fit in."

The current cast of Dear Evan Hansen includes Trensch, Lisa Brescia, Mallory Bechtel, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Michael Park, Alex Boniello, Sky Lakota-Lynch, Phoenix Best and Roman Banks, Brown, Garrett Long, Olivia Puckett, Asa Somers, Nicole Van Giesen, Diamond Essence White, and Dan Macke.
