On Sunday, April 1, the Broadway revival of Gore Vidal’s The Best Man opened at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre with Michael Wilson at the helm.
Opening night guests included Edward Albee, F. Murray Abraham, Mark Blum, Philip Boykin, Ellen Burstyn, Lauren Bush, Nikki Renee Daniels, Topher Grace, Stewart Lane, David Lauren, Norm Lewis, Judith Light, Stacy Keach, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, Debra Messing, Matthew Modine, Rob Morrow, Bryce Pinkham, Estelle Parsons, Christine Quinn, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Joan Rivers, Frances Sternhagen, Olivia Thirlby, Marlo Thomas, and Rachel York.
The play is set at the national convention where two candidates are vying for their party’s nomination during the primary season. The production features Candice Bergen, Curtis Billings, Corey Brill, Kerry Butler, Donna Hanover, James Earl Jones, Bill Kux, Angela Lansbury, John Larroquette, Dakin Matthews, Jefferson Mays, Eric McCormack, Michael McKean, and Fred Parker Jr.
