The musical features a score by Tom Kitt and lyrics by Brian Yorkey.
Magic Mike the Musical is coming to Boston's Emerson Colonial Theatre November 30, 2019-January 5, 2020. To get us hyped, the show has released a brief video featuring Channing Tatum, star of the two Magic Mike films and a producer on this musical, meeting with collaborators Tom Kitt (composer), Brian Yorkey (lyricist), Trip Cullman (director), and Camille A. Brown (choreographer) in a dance studio. Check out the behind-the-scenes look below.
Set before the hit movies Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL, this original stage production tells the story of college-student-turned-male-entertainer Mike Lane. Struggling to make ends meet, Mike takes a job dancing at an exclusive night club…and winds up loving every minute of it. But as he scrambles to hide his alter ego from his dad and girlfriend, he finds himself needing to make some difficult choices. Can Mike follow his dreams without losing more than his clothes?
Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will write the book. Additional information will be announced. The production is produced by Magic Mike screen collaborators Channing Tatum, Steven Soderbergh, Gregory Jacobs, Nick Wechsler, Reid Carolin, and Peter Kiernan.
