PS 122 to Hold Final Performance in East Village Home June 25, Expand Off-Site Programming During Renovation

Performance Space 122 will hold its final performance in its current East Village location prior to a massive renovation on Saturday, June 25 at 8pm. Carmelita Tropicana & The Staff of Performance Space will emcee the event, which is the culmination of its Old School PS 122 Benefit.

Performances on that night will be by Amanda Palmer, David Leslie, New York City Players, The Wooster Group, Elevator Repair Service, Big Art Group, Split Britches, and Big Dance Theater. Music will be provided by Bob Wonder & the Future Ex-Wives.

The theater plans to temporarily vacate its 30-year home as the building undergoes an interior transformation that is designed by Deborah Berke and Partners. Renovations and will be aimed at bringing the building up to meet current code requirements and LEED silver standards.

During the construction/renovation period, offices will be moved to another downtown location, and the Fall 2011 programming will all be done off-site, in what artistic director Vallejo Gantner, in a statement, describes as “in new and unexpected spaces – from apartments to churches, in partner venues and online – in all 5 boroughs of NYC, in London, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and around the globe.”
