Daniella Topol will direct a reading of Caridad Svich’s play, The Way of the Water at Lark Play Development Center in New York City on April 18 and 19 at 7pm.

As previously reported, NoPassport theatre alliance & press is making the play available for local presentations both in the U.S. and abroad during the month of April in commemoration of the two-year anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon BP oil spill. The Way of the Water directly addresses the aftermath of that disaster and its effects on human health and the environment in the US Gulf region.

The New York cast at the Lark will include Armando Riesco, Bobby Plasencia, Caitlin McDonough-Thayer and April Matthis. Post-show discussions will feature, among others, Tara DePorte, Executive Director of Human Impacts Insitute, Julianne Lutz-Warren of NYU’s Global Studies Program, Dana Whitco, Director of NYU’s Center for Creative Research.

Among the other newly announced participants in the readings will be English Theatre Berlin under Jake Witlen’s direction, Occupy Ashland, Oregon; Opera del Espacio in Los Angeles, CA; Rosemary Branch Theatre Company in London, England and venues in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo (Brasil), Tasmania (Australia), and Pretoria, South Africa.
