John Bucchino, Eric Michael Gillett, Marilyn Maye Receive MAC Awards

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs presented the 2012 MAC Awards at a ceremony held at B.B. King Blues Club, on Thursday, March 29. The show was directed by Lennie Watts and produced by Julie Miller.

Among the winners were Marilyn Maye (Celebrity Artist), Eric Michael Gillett (Major Artist-Male), Terese Genecco (Major Artist-Female or Duo), Janice Hall (Female Vocalist), and Craig Pomranz (Male Vocalist). Genecco’s Terese Genecco & Her Little Big Band at the Iridium won for Show of the Year.

Special honors went to Ervin Drake and David Friedman for “Lifetime Achievement” while Francesca Blumenthal, John Bucchino, and Julie Gold were honored with the “Board of Directors Award” and Rosemary Loar received the “Hanson Award.”

This year’s winning song was “He’s On His Way” featuring music by Robby Stamper, lyrics by Ariana Rose. The Special Musical Material winner was “Universal Truth” with music and lyrics by Bill Zeffiro. Recording went to H2 (Sean Harkness, Mike Herriott) for Home For The Holidays.

(New York Debut-Male), Joan Jaffe (Musical Comedy Performer), Tommy Femia & Rick Skye (Duo/Group), Wednesday Night at the Iguana (Variety Production/Recurring Series), Salon (Open Mic), Dana Lorge (Host), Cabaret Cares (Benefit), Metrostar Talent Challenge (Revue/Special Production), Alison Nusbaum (Piano Bar/Restaurant Singer Entertainer), Bill Zeffiro (Piano Bar/Restaurant Instrumentalist), Tracy Stark (Musical Director), Peter Napolitano (Director), and Jean-Pierre Perreaux (Technical Director).
