Lark Play Development Center Announces Lineup for U.S./Mexico Exchange Program

By Andy Propst • Nov 3, 2009 • New York

The Lark Play Development Center has announced the lineup of plays that will be part of The Word Exchange: U.S./México Playwright Exchange Program, which will culminate in a series of public readings at the Lark Studio, November 21-22, and a closing night celebration on November 23 at Atlantic Theatre Company's Linda Gross Theatre.

Through this program, four playwrights from Mexico are paired with four American playwrights for a ten day translation and development residency. The Word Exchange is designed to foster a cross-cultural exploration through the creation of stage-worthy translations of new works from Mexico.

This year's exchange includes Irela de Villers' exploration of a love triangle, Quetzalcoatl Puddle, translated by Rogelio Martinez; Edgar Alvarez Estrada's thriller Gourmet Homicide: or the fine art of Murder, translated by Maria Fernanda Coppel; Elena Guiochins' portrait of two couples, A Lover's Dismantling: Fragments of a Scenic Discourse, translated by Andy Bragen; and Noé Morales Muñoz' exploration of evil, Hitler in my Heart, translated by Maria Alexandria Beech.

All events are free and open to the public. For further information, visit www.larktheatre.org.
