Lily Rabe Set for New Group’s An Early History of Fire

Lily Rabe will appear in her father David Rabe’s An Early History of Fire, to be presented in April at the Acorn Theatre at Theater Row as part of the New Group’s 2011-2012 season. As previously announced, Jo Bonney will direct the production.


The play centers on a young man who finds his life in the Midwestern town in the 1960s is disrupted when a young woman returns from her college in the east. Additional casting will be announced in the near future.

Lily Rabe received a Tony Award nomination for her performance in The Merchant of Venice. Her other stage credits include The American Plan, Heartbreak House, and Steel Magnolias, and as previously reported, she will be starring with Alan Rickman and Hamish Linklater in Seminar on Broadway this fall.
