Lin-Manuel Miranda's acclaimed musical Hamilton has officially announced its long-awaited Broadway transfer.

Thomas Kail's production, currently running at the Public Theater's Newman Theater, will begin performances on July 13, 2015. Opening night is set for August 6, 2015, at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, current home of If/Then. Miranda's Tony-winning musical In the Heights also played the Rodgers.

Inspired by Ron Chernow's biography Alexander Hamilton, Hamilton explores the life of the American founding father and first Secretary of the Treasury, as well as his experiences as an orphan of the British West Indies who immigrated to the 13 Colonies and helped shape the United States of America.

Miranda takes on the title role, with a principal cast that includes Christopher Jackson (George Washington), Brian d'Arcy James (King George), Renée Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler), Phillipa Soo (Eliza Hamilton), Leslie Odom Jr. (Aaron Burr), Daveed Diggs (Marquis De Lafayette, Thomas Jefferson), Anthony Ramos (John Laurens, Phillip Hamilton), Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan, James Madison), and Jasmine Cephas Jones (Peggy Shuyler, Maria Reynolds). The ensemble is made up of Carleigh Bettiol, Ariana DeBose, Sydney James Harcourt, Sasha Hutchings, Thayne Jasperson, Stephanie Klemons, Jon Rua, Seth Stewart, Betsy Struxness, Ephraim Sykes, and Voltaire Wade-Greene. Swings are Andrew Chappelle and Alysha Deslorieux. Javier Muñoz serves as standby for Hamilton. d'Arcy James will leave the Public production on March 1 to begin previews in the new Broadway musical Something Rotten!

Hamilton features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, and choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler.
