Kathleen Chalfant Will Star in MTC's Tales From Red Vienna

Chalfant joins Tony winner Nina Arianda in the world premiere of David Grimm’s new play.

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced that Kathleen Chalfant (Somewhere Fun, Wit) will join Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur) in the world premiere of David Grimm's new play, Tales From Red Vienna, at New York City Center – Stage I. Previews will begin February 26, 2014, with an opening scheduled for March 18 at MTC Stage I. Kate Whoriskey directs.

Tales From Red Vienna tells the story of Heléna, a woman who loses her husband and financial security in World War I. Struggling to maintain her way of life, Heléna becomes part of an illicit underworld. She manages to separate her secret life from her public persona until she crosses paths with a man who has the power to expose and ruin her.

The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic design), Anita Yavich (costume design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design), Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (sound design), and Thomas Schall (fight direction).
