Synopsis:
La Jolla Playhouse presents The Wiz, based on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. Featuring music and lyrics by Charlie Smalls, who won Broadway's 1975 Tony Award for Best Score, both music and lyrics for The Wiz. Book is by William F. Brown.

A "re-imagining" for the 21st century! When The Wizard of Oz met the urban beat of the 1970s, history was made to the tune of seven Tony Awards. Now the young Dorothy travels to the strange and spectacular Land of Oz once again as Playhouse Artistic Director Des McAnuff teams up with original Wiz...
