Stockard Channing, Christian Hoff, and Martha Plimpton will star in the Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway revival of Pal Joey, featuring music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Lorenz Hart, and a new book by Richard Greenberg, based on the original book by John O'Hara. Joe Mantello will direct the production, which will play Studio 54, with performances beginning November 14, and an opening set for December 11. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Set in Chicago in the late 1930s, Pal Joey is the story of Joey Evans, a brash, scheming song and dance man with dreams of owning his own nightclub. Joey abandons his wholesome girlfriend to charm a rich, married older woman in the hope that she'll set him up in business.

The creative team will include Paul Gemignani (music direction), Graciela Daniele (choreography), Scott Pask (sets), William Ivey Long (costumes), Peggy Eisenhauer and Jules Fisher (lights), Tony Meola (sound), and Don Sebesky (orchestrations).

Channing, who will play Vera Simpson, won a Tony Award for Joe Egg, and received Tony nominations for The House of Blue Leaves, Six Degrees of Separation, Four Baboons Adoring the Sun and The Lion in Winter. She won Emmy Awards for The West Wing and The Matthew Shepard Story, and was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe when she recreated her role in the film version of Six Degrees of Separation. Hoff, who will play Joey Evans, won a Tony for playing Tommy DeVito in Jersey Boys and was an original cast member of The Who's Tommy. Plimpton, who will play Gladys Bumps, is a two-time Tony nominee for her performances in Top Girls and The Coast of Utopia.
