(© Joseph Marzullo/Retna) | Complete casting has been announced for the Broadway revival of Edmond Rostand's classic comedy Cyrano de Bergerac, to play the Richard Rodgers Theatre, October 12-December 23. The production, which will officially open on November 1, will be directed by David Leveaux and feature a new translation by Anthony Burgess.
Joining previously announced stars Kevin Kline as Cyrano, Jennifer Garner as Roxane, and Daniel Sunjata as Christian will be Max Baker as Ragueneau, Euan Morton as Ligniere, Chris Sarandon as Comte de Guiche, John Douglas Thompson as Le Bret, Concetta Tomei as Roxane's Duenna, Tom Bloom as Montfleury, Peter Jay Fernandez as Carbon de Castel-Jaloux, MacIntyre Dixon as Jodelet, and Carman Lacivita as Vicomte de Valvert.
The ensemble will feature Nance Williamson, Piter Marek, Baylen Thomas, Daniel Stewart Sherman, Keith Eric Chappelle, Thomas Schall, Davis Duffield, Alexander Sovronsky, Lucas Papaelias, Fred Rose, Stephen Balantzian, Amefika El-Amin, Ginifer King, Kate Guyton, and Leenya Rideout.
The story concerns the brilliant Cryano (Kline), a French army cadet who falls for the beautiful Roxane (Garner), but is too ashamed of his extra-large nose to profess his love. Instead, he helps his dimwitted comrade Christian (Sunjata) woo her.
