Beautiful — The Carole King Musical to Perform Free Concert in Central Park

The hit Broadway musical joins the SummerStage festival.

The Broadway cast of Beautiful — The Carole King Musical will perform a free concert in Central Park on Monday, August 3, at 8pm as part of City Parks Foundation’s SummerStage festival. The performance will include all of the classic hits from the Broadway production, beginning with special opening guest artist Scott Shea. Beautiful will be the first running Broadway musical to participate in the SummerStage festival.

Beautiful, currently playing at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, follows the early life and career of famed singer-songwriter Carole King. The cast features Chilina Kennedy (Carole King), Scott J. Campbell (Gerry Goffin), Jessica Keenan Wynn (Cynthia Weil), Tony Award nominee Jarrod Spector (Barry Mann), Paul Anthony Stewart (Don Kirshner), and Tony Award nominee Liz Larsen (Genie Klein). The ensemble also includes Gisela Adisa, Andrew Brewer, E. Clayton Cornelious, Rebecca E. Covington, Josh Davis, Kevin Duda, James Harkness, Aisha Jackson, Brittney Johnson, Sara King, Julia Knitel, Douglas Lyons, Gabrielle Reid, Sara Sheperd, Yasmeen Sulieman, Daniel Torres, Melvin Tunstall, and Alan Wiggins.

With a book by Tony and Academy Award nominee Douglas McGrath, direction by Marc Bruni, and choreography by Josh Prince, the score of Beautiful features a collection of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, and Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.
