Cast Announced for Synetic Theater's Taming of the Shrew
Arlington's Synetic Theater has announced the cast for its upcoming production of The Taming of the Shrew, set to run February 15-March 19 with a press opening on February 18. Synetic cofounder Irina Tsikurishvili will both direct and star as Katherine. Cast member Zana Gankhuyag will serve as choreographer.
The cast will also include Ryan Sellers as Petruchio, Alex Mills as Grumio, Chris Galindo as Tailor/Ensemble, Irakli Kavsadze as Baptista, Justin Bell as Lucentio, Scott Turner as Tranio, Zana Gankhuyag as Gremio, Janine Baumgardner as Widow/Ensemble, Katherine Frattini as Ensemble, Nusa Tediashvili as Bianca, and Stephen Russell Murray as Hortensio.
Synetic's production is described as a modern adaptation of the play that spoofs
"Hollywood's famous-for-no-reason socialites." The choreography- and physical-comedy-heavy show will not have dialogue.
Founded in 2001 by the husband and wife team of Paata and Irina Tsikurishvili, Synetic Theater is a center for American Physical Theater.
