Founded in 1997 by George Harter as a platform to syndicate his award-winning radio show A Night on the Town, Music Theater Heritage (MTH) has grown into one of Kansas City’s most vibrant and innovative performing arts organizations. MTH began producing live performances in 2003 on a loading dock at the historic Belger Arts Center in downtown Kansas City. In 2007, Crown Center invited MTH to produce shows in its newly constructed 240-seat, full-thrust theater. The partnership flourished, and in 2019 MTH expanded its footprint with the addition of the 400-seat Grand Theater. Two years later, the newly realized Ruby Room Theater further solidified MTH’s position as a full-fledged performing arts center in the heart of Kansas City. Today, MTH operates as a fully professional producing organization dedicated to music, theater, and the heritage of both. The company welcomes nearly 50,000 patrons each year to its three theaters, two studio spaces, and public lobbies.
