Shaw Festival Announces Selections for 50th Anniversary Season
Works by George Bernard Shaw will include Heartbreak House, directed by Christopher Newton (May 10-October 7), On the Rocks, directed by Joseph Zeigler (June 14-October 8), and Candida, directed by Gina Wilkinson (April 7-October 30).
Musical offerings will include the Lerner and Loewe classic (based on Shaw's Pygmalion), My Fair Lady, directed by Molly Smith (April 13-October 30) and the world premiere of Maria Severa (July 19-September 23), featuring book, music, and lyrics by Jay Turvey and Paul Sportelli, and to be directed by Jackie Maxwell.
Additional works to be presented during the season will include J.M. Barrie's The Admirable Crichton, directed by Morris Panych (June 22-October 29); Lennox Robinson's Drama at Inish - A Comedy, directed by Jackie Maxwell (May 6-October 1); Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, directed by Eda Holmes (May 3-October 23; Ferenc Molnàr's The President, adapted by Morwyn Brebner, and directed by Blair Williams (June 30-October 9); Suzan-Lori Parks' Topdog/Underdog, directed by Philip Akin (July 19-August 27); and Andrew Bovell's When the Rain Stops Falling, directed by Peter Hinton (August 11-September 17).
