Hunter Foster to Star as Harold Hill in The Music Man at the Muny
Broadway's Shuler Hensley, Ann Harada, and more also join the season of musicals.
The Muny has announced principal casting for several of its 2016 season productions.
The Wizard of Oz, set to open the season, will star Danielle Bowen (All Shook Up) as Dorothy, Peggy Roeder (The Matchmaker) as Miss Gultch/The Wicked Witch of the West, Leah Berry (My Fair Lady) as Glinda, Nicholas Rodriguez (Tarzan) as Hank/The Tinman, and Stephen Wallem (Nurse Jackie) as Zeke/The Lion. Performances are set to run from June 13-22.
A cast of Broadway veterans will then join 42nd Street from June 24-30. The company includes Tony winner Shuler Hensley (No Man's Land, Waiting for Godot) as Julian Marsh, Tony nominee Emily Skinner (Billy Elliot) as Dorothy Brock, Jonalyn Saxer (Honeymoon in Vegas) as Peggy Sawyer, Jay Armstrong Johnson (On the Town) as Billy Lawlor, Ann Harada (Avenue Q) as Maggie Jones, and Jason Kravits (The Practice) as Bert Berry.
Tony nominee Hunter Foster (The Bridges of Madison County) will then star as Harold Hill in The Music Man, running from July 5-11. Joining him will be Mark Linn-Baker (On the 20th Century, The School for Scandal) as Mayor Shinn, Nancy Anderson (A Class Act) as Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn, and Liz McCartney (Annie) as Mrs. Paroo.
Young Frankenstein will then run from July 13-19 starring Josh Grisetti (It Shoulda Been You) as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, Stephanie Gibson (Cinderella) as Inga, Steven Rosen (Spamalot) as Igor, Vicki Lewis (Chicago) as Frau Blucher, and Jen Cody (Shrek) as Elizabeth.
The ABBA jukebox musical Mamma Mia! will follow, running from July 21-28. The trio of Dynamos will feature Julia Murney (Wicked) as Donna, Ann Harada (Avenue Q) as Rosie, and Jenny Powers (Grease) as Tanya.
Next up is Fiddler on the Roof, running from July 30-August 5. Michael McCormick (Chaplin) will star as Tevye, alongside Anne L. Nathan (Once) as Golde, and Nancy Opel (Honeymoon in Vegas) as Yente/Fruma-Sarah.
Closing out the season is Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida, running from August 8-14. Joining the previously announced Michelle Williams, who takes on the title role, will be Zak Resnick (Once Upon a Mattress) as Radames, Elizabeth Stanley (The Bridges of Madison County) as Amneris, Patrick Cassidy (Annie Get Your Gun) as Zoser, Ken Page (Ain't Misbehavin') as Amonasro, and Lara Teeter (The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas) as Pharaoh.
