About This Show

Ford’s Theatre, in association with the National Park Service (NPS), presents One Destiny, a one-act play highlighting events surrounding the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. The play revisits the events of April 14, 1865 from the perspective of Harry Ford, the theatre’s business manager and one of three brothers who owned the facility. Distraught that Ford’s Theatre will be remembered for one single night of infamy rather than the joy it has given to many, Ford is comforted by the great comic actor Harry Hawk, who performed the lead role in Our American Cousin at Ford’s the night of the assassination. Mark Ramont, Associate Producer – Artistic for Ford’s Theatre, directs.

Playwright Richard Hellesen has also written Drive In, Face to Face, Kingdom and a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol.

This production is commissioned by Ford’s Theatre as a public and educational service for visitors who will be able to participate in question and answer sessions with NPS rangers following most presentations.

Advance tickets are available at the Ford’s Theatre Box Office for a $1.00/ticket handling fee. Advance group tickets are available by calling 800-899-2367 or 202-638-2367. Before each performance, a number of free, same-day tickets are available beginning at 10:00 AM at the Box Office.
