The play, an original revision of Shakespeare’s Othello and Romeo and Juliet, is the story of a mousy Queen’s University lecturer Constance Ledbelly, whose progress on her Ph.D thesis has been dramatically delayed by the scholarly ghost-writing she provides for Professor Claude Knight, the object of her unrequited love. Ledbelly deciphers a cryptic manuscript she believes to be the original source for the Shakespearean tragedies, and is transported into the plays themselves.
