About the Show
The Egypt of the Pharaohs. Of ancient Greeks and Romans. Of Christian Egypt. Islamic Egypt. All these people’s lifeblood was and remains the Nile, the longest river on earth. Egypt is the gift of the Nile. It flows through the most populated country in the Middle and the 2nd-most populated country in Africa. The magnificent river flows northward, almost entirely through desert, from Sudan into Egypt, where since ancient times its civilization has depended on the great Nile. Here, along the banks of the river, you will find nearly all the cultural and historical sites of Ancient Egypt. Even today –except for the Mediterranean coastal towns –most of its population lies near the Nile.
This cinematic study by award-winning filmmaker, MARLIN DARRAH, tells us the story of Egypt and the Nile, taking you on a memorable journey to incredible destinations such as the Pyramids of Giza and Sakkara; through the market streets of the swollen and over-burdened city of Cairo, with a population of over 10 million; ancient Memphis; the beautiful city of Alexandria by the Mediterranean; the remarkable achievement known as the Suez Canal; the holy sites in Sinai; the Red Sea and the great Temples of Luxor, Karnak and Aswan. Along the way, you’ll meet some of the friendliest and most hospitable people in the world.
A cinematic tour-de-force that should not be missed.
