About This Show

The Paper Mill Playhouse presents Sigmund Romberg’s musical romance, THE STUDENT PRINCE. In it’s day, this show had theatergoers buying tickets for 608 performances, making it the longest-running musical of the 1920’s. There were no less than nine touring companies performing it to packed houses all over America. Audiences thirsted for beer while the male chorus sang the praises of “drink” and this during The Prohibition! The story is a classic forbidden romance: a handsome prince longs to wed a sweet, naive girl who’s not of royal blood. Among the memorable songs in the show that continue to be popular favorites are “Deep in My Heart”, “Golden Days”, “The Drinking Song” and the exquisite “Serenade”. The production will star Brandon Jovanovich and Christiane Noll.
