About This Show

Two Leading Ladies of the American Musical Theatre together in a special performance to benefit Paper Mill Playhouse.

BARBARA COOK
Barbara Cook’s pure, silvery soprano has delighted audiences for more than 50 years. On Broadway she created the roles of Cunegonde in Candide, Marian the Librarian in The Music Man (Tony Award), and Amalia in She Loves Me! (Drama Desk Award). Her legendary 1975 Carnegie debut was preserved in the recording Barbara Cook at Carnegie Hall. This January, the Metropolitan Opera Company honored her with a solo concert debut. A Grammy Award-winner, her recordings include eight original Broadway cast albums. Her latest concert, Barbara Cook’s Broadway, won a NY Drama Critics Circle Award and received a Drama Desk nomination.

AUDRA MCDONALD
Earning an unprecedented three Tony Awards before the age of 30 and a fourth last season (Carousel, Master Class, Ragtime, and A Raisin in the Sun), singer and actress Audra McDonald is frequently compared to legendary performers such as Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand. In addition to her long list of stage credits, Miss McDonald has acted in film and on television, winning an Emmy nomination for her performance in HBO’s production of Wit (opposite Emma Thompson). She has also recorded three solo albums. She frequently appears in concert and has performed with prestigious orchestras worldwide.

All proceeds from the benefit concert will support Paper Mill’s artistic and educational programs.
