About the Show

Lead by the multi-talented KwaZulu-Natal (born Chris Ntuli), who has performed with the world famous Ladysmith Black Mambazo and also translated songs for Paul Simon’s Graceland, The Durban Black Drifters, a South African a cappella group, team with the cast of Katrina: A Whole Lotta Water for this concert. The groups sing songs from the musical and from the Drifters’ Hurricane Katrina album, as well as other favorites. Directed by Emmitt Thrower, the concert also features rap artist Shakka, Gezele Portwood, Kim Deon, and Raphael Smith.

Katrina: A Whole Lotta Water is a multimedia, hip-hop musical that explores the emotional, psychological, racial, class, gender and human rights issues facing the Hurricane Katrina survivors. The show opened in New York in November 2006 and toured Baltimore in January 2007.
