About This Show

Proceeds benefit Working Playground, an organization that brings arts education into New York City classrooms.

This year’s company members include actors Elizabeth Berkley, Billy Crudup, David Cross, Rachel Dratch, Micheal Ealy, Mamie Gummer, Matthew Lillard, Anthony Mackie, Janel Maloney, Rosie Perez, Fisher Stevens, Julia Stiles, Lili Taylor, Marlo Thomas, and Kerry Washington; playwrights David Lindsay-Abaire, Julia Jordan, Warren Leight, and Theresa Rebeck; and directors Christian Parker and Ari Edelson; and musical guest Nellie McKay.

Entertainment’s biggest names join forces to participate in an annual rite of extreme live performance: they will write, direct and perform six original short plays …all in just 24 hours! The creative process begins at 10PM on Sunday, October 21st – the night before the show – when a group of six writers, six directors, 24 actors, one musical guest and production staff gather at the American Airlines Theater. After everyone has been briefed, each writer will stay up all night to compose a ten-minute play. At 7AM on Monday, October 22nd, the directors will return, read the plays, and choose their plays to direct. The casts will meet for the first time at 8:30 AM and quickly get to work rehearsing. Tech rehearsal will run from 5:00 to 7:30PM and doors will open at 7:45PM. At 8:00PM, ink barely dry, the 6 new plays, interspersed with 6 musical acts, will be performed for a live audience.
