About This Show

Playwright Carson Kreitzer returns to the New York stage with Valerie Shoots Andy, directed by Randy White. In 1968, television screens were filled with images of senseless violence: the Tet Offensive in Vietnam, the assassination of Martin Luther King, and the death of Bobby Kennedy. And in New York City, rising Pop Art guru Andy Warhol was shot in his studio by Valerie Solanas, actress and founder of S.C.U.M., the Society for Cutting Up Men. How can we comprehend the violent mind? This is a satirical recreation of Solanas’ infamous, if not fatal, shooting with guns, girls, glitter, methampetamine, a feminist assassin, and two Andy Warhols.
