About This Show

Tokyo Notes is a provocative look at modern Japanese Society. Oriza Hirata, Artistic Director of the Seinen-dan Company, writes and directs this work which won the 1995 Kishida Drama Award for one of the year’s best plays. Set in the near future, a war-torn Europe turns to Japan to safeguard its artistic treasures. A woman destined to inherit a collection of art interacts with other family groups, reacting (or failing to react) to the news of war, as they converse about the preoccupations of their lives.
