About This Show

Set in Cold War Russia, this musical drama, filled with passion and intrigue, relates the true story of Valery Panov, a Russian Jewish ballet dancer, and his struggle to be allowed to dance. Valery’s immense talent and charisma with the public so rankles the KGB authorities that they do everything to break him. This tale of persecution and perseverance is also a passionate love story and To Dance comes to life through a blend of humor, music and dance. Though Panov’s dancing career was thwarted and destroyed by the time he was finally allowed to immigrate to Israel in 1974, Panov never lost his persistent optimism. Today, he’s inspiring and guiding a new generation of dancers into the spotlight as Artistic Director of Panov Ballet Theatre in Ashdod, Israel.
