The Midway World examines how memory deceives and how grief gives permission to act in ways that go beyond the accepted boundaries of society. A woman struggles with how much to let go and how much to hold onto as the memory of her fiance helps her through the journey. Inspired by the writings of Aristotle, C.S. Lewis, and present-day widows, this abstract collage piece establishes a meditative tone by allowing the audience time to link the pieces together and find their own ways to relate to this woman’s experience of loss.
