About This Show

The annual summer Scottish Music Night is presented by Clann an Uabhair- The Gay & Lesbian Scottish Society. There will be a dozen musicians and singers performing traditional and modern Scottish music on instruments including the bagpipes, small pipes, fiddle, saxophone, bass, guitar, dulcimer, tin whistle, mandolin, banjo, and accoridian.

Performers:

Uncle Moon

Perform everything from Djaingo Reinhardt to Cole Porter to The Velvet Underground with a swinging sound mix of jazz, rock and Appalachian folk.

Brian Dewan

Plays the auto harp and electric zither. He has been a recording artist on the BarNone label for several years. He is presently a member of the innovative Raymond Scott Orchestrette and has played on several projects with They Might Be Giants.

Linda Russell

Has been performing traditional folk music on the hammered and mountain dulcimers throughout the New York City area for the past 25 years. She is recognized as a master in her field and has recorded a dozen albums.

The Highland Shatners

The Highland Shatners have developed a modern folk song style that blends Irish, Scottish and American tunes that would make Mr. Spock proud.

Auntie Angus

Auntie Angus is comprised of all the other musicians who come together for this annual concert: Christopher Caines, Douglas Safranek, Thomas Keith, Silvie Jensen, Jane Young – with styles that range from swing to pop to Scottish Gaelic to folk rock to Bluegrass to Punk, Auntie Agnus ain’t your grampa’s Scottish band!
