About This Show

Rajah Mangandiri is Kinding Sindaw’s original dance and music version of The Ramanyana, the great Indian classic. From the 4th to the 10th centuries, the Philippines — along with Malaysia, Indonesia, and Southern Thailand — was part of the Indian Shri Vidyayah Empire. The Indian epic has been preserved in the oral tradition of the centuries-old Maranao tribe of the southern Philippines. This stage version is interpreted by Potri Ranka Manis, daughter of the Sultan of the Maranao tribe, and her company of 16 young artists. She co-directs with Wayland Quintero (from the performance group, Slant).
