About This Show

The Triad Theatre and Edward Berk present PERMISSION, a rock mythology, written by L.R. Heffter and directed by John Tedeschi, with musical direction by L.R. Heffter, art direction by Adam Stroncone, and choreography by Ann Robideaux.

Because of a dream — a ridiculous vision — an otherwise sensible young man must surrender and choose between the constraints of individuality and the freedoms of society’s majority. The young man cannot yield or commit a decision until a determined and passionate girl; a village in Italy; a chorus of knowledge; three supportive and emotive muses; and a wry, optimistic pessimist of a narrator open the young man’s mind, soul and heart and enable him to allow love to take a hold and take permission of the life and path he must navigate upon to achieve his own singular and universal happiness.

“Heffter’s music scores out of the ball park… way out!” — Stephen Schwartz

“Astonishingly beautiful…” — The New York Times
