Daughter of a go-go dancer and a blues musician, Christian has a highly theatrical sense of musicality. She screams and gurgles, whispers and coos, pulling both from classical form and good old fashioned feeling. In this new work, North a curated cabaret, lovingly patch-worked together with her kitchen sink orchestra ‘The Arbornauts’, Christian and company hybridize pre-1700 classical pieces with original pieces and post 1960’s pop. All this is set in a crystalline outdoor living room with a moving visual circus of oddities and silhouettes. They are pilots looking north in longing, they have a home somewhere where it snows.
