Hudson Exploited Theater Company, Inc. presents Mo(u)rning by Adrian Rodriguez. The play is told through three intertwined narratives that unfold over the course of one day. The main narrative is comprised of two men buried under the rubble of a disaster site. They cannot move. They cannot see each other. Neither of them knows exactly what has happened. Worse yet, one speaks only English and the other only Spanish. Their struggle to communicate mirrors their struggle to survive. Their story unfolds as they create a private language between them using shared words that communicate basic truths. The second narrative follows three rescue workers (one African-American, one Euro-American, one Latino), uncertain of what they are searching for or even what has happened. They struggle with heroism and cowardice, with responsibility and survival. The final narrative involves a solitary man who is watching the events unfold at a distance, so profoundly yet so distant on his television set. Arian Blanco directs this production, which is part of the New York International Fringe Festival.
The cast includes HExTC company members such as: Liche Ariza, John C. Cunningham, Steven David, Omar Hernandez, and HExTC newcomer Nixon Cesar and John Sudol.
